At MilesWeb, our goal is to make hosting easier for you. If your domain is assigned through IONOS and you want to change its DNS settings, here’s a short overview of how to do it. DNS records are important as they determine where web traffic, emails, and other services linked to your domain will be routed.
How can you Manage the DNS Zone on IONOS?
Having control over your Domain Name System (DNS) at IONOS permits you to point your domain towards different services such as website and email hosting.
1. Accessing Your DNS Management
- Through www.Ionos.com, go to log in to your account.
- When logged in, head on over to Domains and SSL from the Main Menu.
- Find the appropriate domain under the Domains list that you’d like to manage and click either on the gear button or the “DNS” link next to it.
2. Adding a DNS Record
- In the relevant zone of management systems, click the button Add Record.
- Choose from A, CNAME, MX, or TXT record types.
- Fill in the required information in empty fields with hostname and value/destination along with TTL( Time To Live).
- Click Save.
3. Editing a DNS Record
- Search for the required record within the RRs of the relevant zone that you would like to change.
- Click the edit icon next to that specific record.
- Change necessary fields as needed.
- Click Save.
4. Removing a DNS Record
- Go to the DNS management page and find the record that you wish to delete.
- Click on the trash bin icon (delete) adjacent to the record.
- Confirm your choice when asked.
Reminder: It may take some time for worldwide changes (propagation) to update, usually from a few minutes up to several hours.
