What if you want to set the DocumentRoot outside public_html? You can when adding the Addon OR subdomain. But, the system won&#8217;t allow it. To enable this feature, you need to contact your <a title=\"milesweb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>web hosting provider<\/strong><\/a>. Not all web hosts provide this feature. If you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting\/vps-hosting\/\"><strong>VPS hosting<\/strong><\/a> OR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting\/dedicated-servers\/\"><strong>dedicated server<\/strong><\/a>, then<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to <strong>WHM<\/strong> as <strong>root. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on<strong> Server Configuration.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Go to<strong> Tweak Settings. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Now, in the<strong> Find <\/strong>textbox type <strong>public_html<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>By default <strong>Restrict document roots to public_html <\/strong>option is <strong>On.<\/strong> Set it to <strong>Off. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>When set to <strong>On<\/strong> it prevents users from creating subdomains outside of their public_html directory.<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Save. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This will allow you to set document root outside public_html for the Addon Domain or Subdomain.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is available with our <a title=\"cPanel\" href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting\/cpanel-hosting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cPanel shared hosting<\/a> plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When adding an Addon OR Subdomain, the default DocumentRoot on cPanel servers is \/home\/user\/public_html\/addon.com.
