If you would like to assign additional permissions to some of your registered users in MediaWiki, it can be done with few simple steps:<\/p>\n
To start with, <\/strong><\/p>\n

Login to the MediaWiki<\/strong> as admin.<\/li>\n
On the left-hand side, click on Special pages. <\/strong><\/li>\n
If you have not created any user then you need to create a new user. To create a new user go to Login OR create account<\/strong> section and click on Create account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
In the username field enter the username as per your choice.<\/li>\n
Enter the password<\/strong> in the Password field and re-enter the same password in the Confirm password<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n
Now in the Email address<\/strong> text box enter the email address where you wish to receive the confirmation link and login details OR leave it blank as it is optional.<\/li>\n
In the Real name<\/strong> section if you wish to then enter the name as per your choice otherwise leave it blank as it is optional.<\/li>\n
Also, in this text box mention the reason for creating another account OR leave it blank and click on Create account <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n
On the left-hand side, click on Special pages. <\/strong><\/li>\n
Navigate to the Users and rights <\/strong>section and click on User rights. <\/strong><\/li>\n
Now in the Select a user <\/strong>section enter the username<\/strong> that you want to modify and click on Load user groups <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n
In the Edit user groups<\/strong>, you will find a checkbox<\/strong> in front of every user group.<\/li>\n
Select the groups where you would like to add the user and in the Expires <\/strong>section, you can define the time.<\/li>\n
If you want to mention any reason then you can mention it or else leave it blank.<\/li>\n
Click on the Save user groups.<\/strong><\/li>\n
After this, the user will have permissions and access to the selected groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
So in this way, you can assign users to groups in MediaWiki.<\/p>\n
