This tutorial will help you to install ffmpeg on your Linux VPS<\/strong> OR Linux Dedicated Server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Before starting the installation, please update the yum repositories<\/strong><\/a> on your server.
\nOnce the repositories are updated, follow the steps below to install ffmpeg.<\/p>\n

# yum install ffmpeg ffmpeg-devel php-devel mplayer -y<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It will install all the required rpm’s and required dependencies.<\/p>\n

It’s time to compile it with php so that you can use it with your php code.<\/p>\n

# cd \/usr\/local\/src
\n# wget http:\/\/biznetnetworks.dl.sourceforge.net\/sourceforge\/ffmpeg-php\/ffmpeg-php-0.6.0.tbz2
\n# tar xjf ffmpeg-php-0.6.0.tbz2
\n# cd ffmpeg-php-0.6.0
\n# phpize
\n# .\/configure –enable-shared –prefix=\/usr
\n# make
\n# make install<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now, you will have to include the ffmpeg.so file in php.ini. You can find server’s php.ini with command<\/p>\n

# php -i | grep php.ini<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Open the file with your favorite editor and add line below.<\/p>\n

extension=ffmpeg.so<\/strong><\/p>\n

Restart apache & you are done.<\/p>\n
