But, if you are hosting on a cPanel server, you can exclude some files from the backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Exclude Files from Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Log in to your cPanel account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Click <strong>File Manager<\/strong> from the <strong>FILES<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/file_manager.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/file_manager-1024x239.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11166\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The File Manager interface will open in a new tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, you have to create a new file in the <strong>home<\/strong> folder of your hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Click the <strong>+File<\/strong> button in the top-right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/cp-add-new-file.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/cp-add-new-file.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14813\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>New File<\/strong> window will pop up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Enter the <strong>New File Name<\/strong> as <em>cpbackup-exclude.conf<\/em> and click <strong>Create New File<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/cp-backup-exclude-new-file.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.milesweb.co.uk\/hosting-faqs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/cp-backup-exclude-new-file.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14814\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>cpbackup-exclude.conf<\/em> file will appear in the file list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Right-click on the <em>cpbackup-exclude.conf<\/em> file and select <strong>Edit<\/strong> from the context menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The file will open in the text editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Copy this code and paste it into the file:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">*.jpa\nbackup-*.tar.gz\ncpmove-*.tar.gz\nsite-*.tar.gz\n*\/com_akeeba\/backup\/*\n*\/backupbuddy_backups\/*\npublic_html\/cache\/*\ntmp\/*\nlogs\/*\nsoftaculous_backups\/*\n*\/wp-content\/uploads\/wpcf7_captcha\/*\n*\/wp-content\/widget-cache\/*\n*\/wp-content\/cache\/*\n*\/wptsc-cachedir\/*\n*\/wp-content\/ai1wm-backups<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"kb-wisdom-wrapr kb-wisdom-info kb-wisdom-wrapr-blue\">\n\t<div class=\"kb-wisdom-col kb-wisdom-col-icon\">\n\t\t<div class=\"kb-wisdom-icon\"><div><\/div><\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"kb-wisdom-col kb-wisdom-col-content\">\n\t\t<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The files and directories in this list belong to popular backup utilities like BackupBuddy and Akeeba. You can include other items to exclude from cPanel backups by adding additional lines to this file.<\/p>\n<p> Please note that the backup system excludes these files and directories for all users\u2019 backups by default: <\/p>\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">*\/.wysiwygPro_*\n*\/core.[0-9]\n.MirrorSearch\n.cpan\n.cpanel\/caches\n.cpanel\/datastore\n.cpcpan\n.sqmailattach\naccess-logs\npublic_ftp\/.ftpquota<\/pre>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>7.
