API is a unique identifier or authentication that allows an application to access a service. It is possible to create and manage API Tokens in cPanel from version 80 onwards. The main function of the API token is to grant a user access to the server without logging in with a password.<\/p>\n

So, by issuing API tokens, it is possible to grant permissions to resellers or third-party developers to carry API2 and UAPI operations.<\/p>\n

1. Log in to your cPanel account.<\/p>\n

2. Go to the SECURITY<\/strong> section and click on Manage API Tokens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Manage API Tokens panel will appear.<\/p>\n

You will first have to create a new API token.<\/p>\n

To Create API Tokens<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Enter the name for the API token in the API Token Name<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n
  2. Choose the Specify an expiration date<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n
  3. Select a date from the calendar in the API Token Expiration Date<\/strong>. The token will remain usable till that date.<\/li>\n
  4. Click on Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Although you can choose The API Token will not expire<\/strong> option, we strongly recommend you don’t.<\/div>\n

    A success message will appear as cPanel will create a new token.<\/p>\n

    5. Copy the API token someplace discreet to share it with your operator later.<\/p>\n

    6. Click on the Yes, I Saved My Token<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

    The API token you created will now appear in the list for the active API tokens.<\/p>\n

    To Manage API Tokens<\/h2>\n

    1. Click the Manage<\/strong> button for the API token you want to manage.<\/p>\n

    Here, there will be two sections-<\/p>\n

      \n
    • MANAGE API TOKEN<\/strong>: Here, you can change the name for the API Token.<\/li>\n
    • REVOKE API TOKEN<\/strong>: It allows you to discard the API token.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      MANAGE API TOKEN<\/h3>\n

      1. Enter the new name for the API token in the New API Token Name<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n
      2. Click the Update<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The name of the API token will change to the new one you just updated.<\/p>\n

        REVOKE API TOKEN<\/h3>\n

        1. Click on Revoke The Token<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        \"\"A message will flash asking for your confirmation.<\/p>\n

        2. Click on the\u00a0Yes, Revoke The Token<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

        The system will turn the API Token invalid and remove it from the list of active tokens.<\/p>\n
